Selon une enquête du quotidien américain The Wall Street Journal publiée le mardi 30 mai, les forces spéciales françaises feraient appel depuis des mois à des soldats irakiens pour éliminer des ressortissants français membres de l’État islamique à Mossoul. Le journal cite plusieurs sources irakiennes et françaises pour étayer son enquête.
Le cadre légal reste très flou pour ce genre d’opérations. 1 700 Français auraient rejoint les rangs de l’EI et plusieurs dizaines auraient été tués au cours de la bataille de Mossoul depuis sept mois.
